The Federal Government of Nigeria in her drive to reposition the economy approved during the 15th National Council on Transportation meeting in Sokoto in 2017 and the Federal Executive Council, for the Institute for Tourism Professionals (ITP) to organize annually, a Transportation Tourism Summit and Expo in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Transportation and other Government Ministries/Agencies and Non-Government Organizations together with the private stakeholders across the transportation modes, tourism and hospitality value chain for sustainable economic growth and development.

The Institute, with close support and collaboration of the Federal Ministries of Transportation and Information and Culture as well as the Organized Private Sector, successfully organized the maiden edition of the Summit and Expo in 2018 with a strong Communiqué issued at the end of the program that has become an important guide and reference material for operators in the two industries at public and private sector levels of the country.

Tourism and transportation can play pivotal roles in creating employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly through their linkages to local economic activities, raising income at both household and national levels, improving the balance of payments and driving economic growth. Their importance in promoting economic cooperation, trade and cultural exchange,both at the regional and international levels make them fundamental for the sustainable development of all nations.

The National Tourism Transportation Summit and Expo programme consist of Host City Walk, Tourism Transport Summit, Exhibition-B2B and G2B sessions, Tourism Transport Ambassadors Award and Gala Night and will be rounded up with the Host City Tour.
